Romantic Boston Elopement

In April I had an idea for a courthouse elopement session, and I needed to bring the vision to life ASAP.

I reached out to my good friends, Amanda and David, who also happen to be clients! They are getting married this summer and I have the absolute honor of capturing their special day. **cue tears**

I told them about my idea and asked if they would want to model for me and Amanda’s exact response was, “YES.”

I had a general idea of outfits, but they are both super artistic and creative and took my idea and RAN with it.

My jaw was on the floor from every little detail they picked out - from Amanda’s vintage suit to David’s snazzy shoes, it was even more perfect than I imagined. Amanda even bought a bouquet from a local flower shop (Sweet Pea & Sage in Jamaica Plain). I loved how the flowers weren’t super traditional and added a pop of color to the photos.

It was a cloudy and rainy day, but you really would never know from the photos! Spirits were high and we truly had the best time.

We started at the John Adams courthouse in Boston, which is a gorgeous building that is relatively secluded. During the shoot many strangers expressed their congratulations, thinking they were actually eloping, and Amanda and David just replied with big smiles and gratitude.

After running around the city laughing and having fun for a bit, I had an idea. I asked Amanda and David if they would be up for taking photos on the Boston Common carousel. They were a bit hesitant, probably thinking I was crazy, but were great sports and ultimately agreed.

This was probably my FAVORITE part of the session. Who knew $4 could provide SUCH fun and joy?!

I loved capturing their genuine laughs and smiles as they tried to hold on and kiss while their horses went up and down.

This “elopement” session was just a taste of what’s to come for their engagement session and wedding, and honestly I can’t wait. They are so in love and it SHOWS.

Taking their photos reminded me of why I love my job so much. Your love story is magic. You are magic. And it was always be the honor of a lifetime to be able to capture that.
